1. Ethics

My approach is rooted in ethical and respectful practices, ensuring your safety and well-being throughout our work together. It is an honour to be currently serving as a Board Member at the Association of Certified Sexological Bodyworkers (ACSB). We are devoted to the promotion, support, development and accountability of the profession of Certified Sexological Bodywork® and Somatic Sex Education.

1.1 How I ensure my work is as ethical, informed and professional and I am as resourced as can be

By attending, engaging and actively participating in the following...

1.2 Complaints & Grievances

If you have a complaint about me or my work, if it feels accessible for you to reach out to me initially to attempt to resolve, please do so, or contact the Association of Certified Sexological Bodyworkers Ethics Committee using their Grievance Process.

2. Professional Boundaries

It is possible that our paths may cross online or in person in a variety of different settings. This statement sets a framework that will support us to navigate these spaces whilst holding a professional relationship through bodywork, breathwork or coaching.

2.1 Confidentiality

Everything you share with me in professional sessions will remain confidential, unless it is required of me, by law, or I am concerned you are a risk to yourself or others, where a child may be being harmed or you at a risk of being harmed. In this instance, if appropriate, I will let you know that I will be sharing information, prior to doing so. If I feel I need some additional support from my supervisor about how to support you, I will ask for your consent and ensure to keep your identities confidential.

2.2 Client-Practitioner Relationship

If we hold a professional client-practitioner relationship, we will not hold a friendship, romantic or sexual relationship for 2 years after our work completes. If we discuss the potential for a business relationship, we will wait at least 6 months from completing our work together, before discussing potential business opportunities.

Please see this website where you will publicly see my name demonstrating my commitment to ethical, boundaried professional and teaching relationships that honor the power dynamic inherent between teachers and students, practitioners and clients. https://we-can-do-better.com

2.3 Encounters in Public

At the beginning of our work together, I will agree with you about how you would like to be acknowledged (if at all), if we see each other in public or we find ourselves in the same places, events or spaces whether online or in person.  I will honor your privacy, not approach you nor reveal to anyone present the nature of our client - practitioner relationship roles.

3. Inclusivity

3.1 Gender inclusivity

I believe that lived experience is a strong quality as a coach and bodyworker. I mostly work with people assigned female at birth, who were raised as women, and couples of any gender, where one partner is AFAB, as I feel that is where my area of experience and education is best served. I endeavour to support folks of all genders and I acknowledge that I may not be the most suitable practitioner for you. I welcome feedback with how I can do better and be more inclusive in my work, whilst honouring my skill set and experience. I have some incredible non-binary, trans, men and gender non-conforming colleagues who specialise in supporting folks of other genders, and I would be delighted to refer them to you, if you feel they would be a better fit.

3.2 Body diversity

I endeavour to be fat and body positive in my work and can work with people of different sizes. My bodywork table is 32 inches wide and can hold 800 lbs.

If you have physical disabilities, are wheel chair bound or have reduced physical mobility, we can discuss accommodations you may need and work from a venue that is accessible for you.

If you have different access needs, please enquire and we can discuss options.

3.3 Age

In our society that often ignores people as they get older and sexualises them when they are young, it can be difficult to feel okay with our changing bodies, needs and desires as we age. My clients have ranged from 26 years old up to 66 years old. You are never too old to explore your sexuality and relationships and my intention is to help you embody that too!

3.4 Sexuality Expression

I work with people on all the spectrum of sexuality, from people who identify as asexual and aromantic all the way through to folks with a high sex drive. My lived experience of having a seasonal libido due to changing hormones and other physical and mental health challenges, being queer and dismantling my own internalised patriarchal conditioning, I understand first hand the challenges of changing moods and desires as we grow,  both as a single woman and being in long term partnership. Alongside my continuing education of how to serve folks better, I endeavour to meet you where you are at, supporting you to stop feeling "wrong or broken".

4. Pricing

4.1 BIPOC Pricing

As a recent British immigrant with Celtic heritage, Rooted Breath and Emerald May respectfully acknowledges that we are earthed on the traditional and unceded lands home to the Atfalati, Cowlitz, Kalapuya, Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, Grand Ronde, Cayuse, Umatilla and Walla Walla. Rooted Breath is benefiting from lands taken from first nations people that we now call the city of Portland. I am aware that land acknowledgment does not serve as a replacement for returning resources to their care. I am aware of my white privilege; one example being able to become an immigrant easily, and I commit to engaging in a respectful and honouring partnership as stewards of these lands, and offer a sliding scale for BIPOC clients if they wish to receive it, as an initial step to reparation, a critical anti-racist action that I can do, to make change within the communities of women and parents I serve. Please contact me to access this discount.

4.2 Single Parent Pricing

I feel strongly about supporting single parents. As a former single parent myself, I understand the complexity, hard work, and what is required to raise your child/children in this capitalist society that does not support the reality of raising a family. I believe it takes a village to be a human, and it takes a village to raise a child. I want to bring back the community aspect of child rearing, something I have personally struggled to find my feet with since moving to the US in 2021. I am grateful that I have a partner, who helps support me so I am able to offer 20% of my clients a 20% discount for coaching and some reduced priced spaces for events, please reach out on email to access this discount.

4.3 Package costs

My session rate begins at $200 per session for individuals. As this work takes time to integrate through practice, I recommend a minimum of 6 sessions for individuals and 8 for couples. So you can expect to pay minimum of $1200 and $3200 for couples. Please enquire to discuss more details.

6. Disclaimer

In Sex, Intimacy and Breathwork Coaching,  I work within a client-led, positive, relational framework that celebrates your strengths and uniqueness, co-creating an environment for healing, wholing and transformation. I am not a licensed physician, psychiatrist, psychologist, clinical social worker, or marriage and family therapist. I do not offer therapy, psychotherapy, or medical advice. My practice is not a substitute for seeing mainstream medical professionals and does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental health disorders or any medical conditions.

My work is trauma informed, meaning I have taken additional training in trauma awareness, and can support you to recognise and navigate trauma in the moment, and come back to a grounded sense of self. I am not a trauma therapist, so if you are wanting to work with severe trauma on a deeper level, I recommend you work alongside a trauma therapist. I am enthusiastic to work alongside talk therapists and other medical and health professionals. Please mention this in the intake form.

You agree to inform me of any pre-existing medical conditions and medications or prescriptions you are taking. Clients who are physically ill are encouraged to seek medical advice from a doctor to support the work we do together. I enjoy working collaboratively with other practitioners and therapists. Please get in touch for more information.
